Nike is no stranger to innovation.
From Jordan Brand golfer Keegan Bradley’s custom J’s to the Nike Dunk we’ve seen several made-for-basketball shoes hit the golf course. The same can be said for Nike’s skateboard business where we saw them introduce the limited edition collaboration with pro skateboarder Eric Koston.
So is it so wrong for me to think that the upcoming P-ROD 8 can be made into a limited edition golf shoe?
Much like the entire Nike SB lineup, the Air Jordan 1 was the blueprint for this new take on the modern skate shoe by self-professed “Jordan Baby” Paul Rodriguez. The new Nike SB P-ROD 8 combines the technical performance pieces, which provide the coveted cushioning, support and resilience of the Air Jordan I, along with the latest innovations honed specifically for skate.
Wait, did you just say Air Jordan 1? Like “The Future” Air Jordan 1?
Though the Nike P-ROD 8 is skate-purposed, I think that it has a lot of potential on the golf course.. with or without the soft spikes..
The Nike P-ROD 8 brings 360 degrees of Nike Lunarlon impact protection to the design, delivering lightweight, responsive cushioning plus the board feel that skaters need. The Hyperscreen+ traction layer amplifies durability, and the dynamic Nike Flywire cables are the ultimate solution for an adaptive fit. The P-ROD 8’s outsole traction pattern was created to provide great grip during flicks and flips.
Mark it down in those calendars – The P-ROD 8 drops on June 21, 2014.
The P-ROD 8 will be available beginning June 21 — International Go Skateboarding Day — at select Nike SB retailers and online at nike.com.
